During the summer of ‘49, Joe Schoenith with son Lee, began
to build an unlimited hydroplane dynasty. The Schoenith family
became, over a 40-year span, the winningest family in the
sport.
Lee was the first American to test a jet boat. At eighty-eight years
old Joe’s automotive powered Unlimited Hydroplane, Miss
Detroit, won the Stroh's Trophy Regatta on the Detroit River.
