During the 60’s and 70‘s, I was the owner of the Roostertail Entertainment Complex.
My most enjoyable as well as rewarding job was booking the entertainment. Many of
acts were or became superstars. I have tried to list most of them in my online book. If
I have missed any let me know.
I was lucky enough to take chances on young unknown entertainers. Some of the
names you might or might not recognize. Some of superstars are Wayne Newton,
George Carlin, Frankie Valle and the Four Seasons, Dionne Warwick, Paul Anka, Ted
Neeley, Pat Boone, Eric Clapton, Peter Allen, Diana Ross, Blue Oyster Cult, Jerry
Van Dyke, Allis Copper, Don Adams, Deep Purple, in addition booking Motown acts
like the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, among many more.
Weeks before David Cook became the American Idol I told a friend that like when I
first saw Wayne Newton, and Diana Ross on TV, I could feel their star becoming
very bright. Wayne Newton was a kid in his early 20’s when I first booked him at the
Roostertail resturant. Now he is Mr. Las Vegas working weekly on the strip.
I will now predict that by the end of 2010, David Cook will be one of the top ten
American singers in the world. Of course, drugs, booze, and believing he is bigger than
his fans play a big part in my vision. However, I do not see any of these problems
coming up.
