Tony has become an accomplished artist. He gave
Richard Graves, the Roostertail general manager, a
piece of art that he was casually drawing after the
show. When Tony saw Richard last August he told
him it is now worth $15,000 to $20,000.
On a beautiful August day a  friend of all of us from the
Roostertail, thoughtfully called to invite me to his concert at
the Freedom Hill Amphitheater. We must have talked for
twenty-minutes.

It was Tony Bennett who the Schoenith family has had a
special relationship since Tony first played the Roostertail 40
years-ago. Thanks to Larry Garcia the photographer for
Freedom Hill Amphitheater, in addition to, Hillside
Productions for the use of these pictures taken that evening.

Each and every show, Tony tells a story about what happen
while playing his favorite nightclub, the Roostertail.  During
his 1967 appearance, a young writer, Ron Miller asks Tony
to look at a song he wrote. It was "For Once In Your Life".
The kid was from Motown. When CEO Berry Gordy found
out that Miller, a Motown staff writer, had given the song to
an outside artist, Gordy had Miller immediately make the
song available for Motown artist Stevie Wonder.

Because of that meeting at the Roostertail, Ron Miller’s
composition was recorded first by Tony. It has become one
of Tony's signature songs. Stevie Wonder’s up-tempo
recording became one of his biggest hits, the following year.

Tony and Stevie sings "
For Once In Your Life" on his new
CD,
Tony Bennett Duets-An American Classic. That duet
including other superstars duets was broadcasts on
November 21, 2006 a NBC Thanksgiving week TV special.
The making of the CD is now running on PBS

Saturday's concert, not because of my long time friendship
was truly breathtaking. He is dubbed the greatest male singer
of the past 60 years. Find out for yourself, buy the CD.

Tony Bennett received the 2006
Billboard Century Award
on  December 4, 2006 at the

the MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas.
